Permanent Cosmetics by Flora

Flora began the art of permanent make-up aslo called facial tattooing or permanent cosmetics in the early eighties. A cosmetologist/aesthetician, adding the convenience of permanent eyeliner, eyebrows to the full service salon she owned at  the time.

She trained with the American Institute of Micropigmentation, Derma-Medical Institute, Advanced Cosmetic Techniques in Birmingham Alabama at the McCoullough Aesthetic Center and at Advanced Cosmetic Techniques in Natchitoches Louisiana, she is proud to be a Member of The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and American Academy of Micropigmentation.

A Kentucky newspaper did a story  headlined "West's Make-up A Dream Come True for Some Women, and two weeks later Flora was featured on WBIR's "Live at Five" applying permanent eyebrows on T.V. host Missy Kane. In 1996, the state of Tennessee passed new regulations on tattooing requiring a one year apprenticeship and state testing before receiving a state artists license to practice the art of permanent cosmetics or ornamental tattooing. At that time Flora decided to begin an apprenticeship training course teaching individuals the trade of permanent cosmetics. To date the training institute has 65 graduates. Many have completed a one year program whereas those from states other than Tennessee have completed a 60 hour or one week training course. Each state varies on the requirements.
